I knew Kathy well when I was in the Air Force. Our offices were located at opposite ends of a corridor. I had regular dealings with her supervisor which is how I came to meet Kathy. I liked Kathy a lot and deployed with her on two separate occasions while we were stationed at Spangdahlem Germany. Kathy and I traveled in a small party to Munich once, then Kathy joined my squadron for a large deployment to Spain. over the course of time we became very good friends. I liked Kathy's sense of humour. She always wore her uniform immaculately and she would try her best to ride me about how I wore my uniform. She liked to wear her blues uniform while I wore the camouflage battle-dress-uniform almost exclusively. Thank goodness I outranked her or I might have been in trouble. Kathy wanted to open a bar after she left the Air Force. She used to say "Even in a depression, people will drink". She had some pretty great ideas about how to make a bar popular. I'm sorry I won't get the chance to see her bar.
