Kathleen was an avid contract bridge player, organizing and participating in many tournaments. She was an accomplished quilter, counted cross-stitch needlepoint, and was a fabulous cook. She and Frank had no children, but many nephews and nieces.
Nationality & Locations

Kathleen was the sixth child and third daughter of Joseph Francis Hermsen and Angeline Catherine Siebold. She was a nurse during WW II before marrying Frank J. Mackey. Her life was centered around Frank's career in the U.S. Air Force where he was a lawyer. They were stationed in various places around the world from West Germany to Japan. Lived in Hawaii, as well as multiple states before returning to Annadale, VA later in life. Kathleen's paternal and maternal grandparents were German immigrants coming to America in the late 1860s from the North Rheinland - Westfalen.

Kathleen attended David City High School, in Nebraska. She studied Nursing at the University of Nebraska and did her residency in Chicago during WW II.
