Kathryn A. Gooding McLeod, 74, a former resident of East Whiteland, died at Hershey Medical Center on Friday, Aug. 26th, 2011, from a kidney infection. Kathryn was born on Aug. 3, 1937, to Leotta and Arthur Gooding. She resided on the Lincoln Highway in Frazer and graduated from Tredyffrin/Easttown High School. She married Arthur B. McLeod. Together they built and operated the Country Kitchen Restaurant for many years. They moved to the Poconos, where they built and operated the Sportsman Motel and Restaurant in Blakeslee. After moving to Basket Farm in Oley, Kate devoted her life to many artistic pursuits, chiefly the growing and arranging of flowers. She lectured to many groups as a member of the Reading Women's Club. She later opened an antiques shop at her farm. Most recently, she resided at the Masonic Home in Elizabethtown. Kathryn is survived by a son, Scott McLeod; and a granddaughter, Lori McLeod. Her daughter, Anne McLeod, died previously. Her brother Thomas Gooding resides in Downingtown; her sister Ellen Antonietta in Kingston, N.Y.; and her brother Robert Gooding in Chester Springs.
