Katie Nicole Key, 17, of the 107 Cutoff in Afton, died early Tuesday morning at her home.
She was a senior at West Greene High School, where she was very active. She was a member of the Tennessee Tomorrow Club, Future Farmers of America, the Ag Issues team, the Blue and Gold Club, Theatre Arts, and AIM Scholars.
Miss Key had been voted "Most Fun to Be Around" by her senior classmates.
She had served on the Greene County Partnership's Youth Council.
Miss Key was a member of Brown Springs Baptist Church and attended Midway United Methodist Church.
She was an employee of J.C. Penney Co. Inc.

She was preceded in death by her grandmother: Betty Key; her grandfather: Harold Rhea Daniels Sr.; and her stepgrandfather: Gordon Burger.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today at Rose Hill Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon at West Greene High School with interment to follow in GreeneLawn Memory Gardens.
The Rev. Richard Long, the Rev. Jerry Holt, and the Rev. Donnie Bible will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Eric Cutshall, Dave Whitson, Michael Loveday, Charlie Janeway, Richard Rednour, and Michael Cansler.
Honorary pallbearers will be the West Greene High School Class of 2007.
