Kenny was our stepfather from the time I was around 6 until age 14 when he and my mom divorced. Ken brought our family to Hawaii when I was 8. While in California, he loved to travel; it was like he knew he was eventually moving back and wanted to explore as much as possible while he was there. On the weekends, we would drive up to the mountains or down the coast. On longer vacations we would drive down to Mexico through Tijuana and continue on exploring. We ended up moving from Laguna beach up to Crestline, he loved the mountains, but it was only a few months before he moved us to Hawaii. He knew the most classic people, Hilo Hattie, the Nuuhiwa family, and we= were blessed to eat brunch with Duke Kahanamoku, yup he knew Duke. He taught me and my brother respect for nature, our kupuna, and the ocean. With our first surfboards came a patch kit, if we wanted to learn to surf we needed to learn how to patch our boards. Kenny was a good man, he loved life and is remembered fondly.
