    Kermit H. Dottery Sr., 67, of 4230 Dorney Park Road, Allentown, died Sunday in his home. He was the husband of Eunice (Housenick) Dottery. They were married 39 years in June. He was a truck driver for Teamsters Local 773 for 35 years, retiring in 1982. Born in Guths Station, he was a son of the late Jacob and Beulah (Christman) Dottery. He was a member of Jordan Lutheran Church, Orefield. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. Survivors: Wife; sons, Michael of Lyons, Berks County, and Kermit Jr. of Allentown; daughters, Cheryl and Kathy, both of Allentown, and Gail of Cementon; brother, Forrest Sr. of Allentown; sisters, Sadie Banghart in Georgia, Helen, wife of Carlton Reiter of Lehighton, Violetta Scholl of Emmaus, and Rachel, wife of Joseph Held of Allentown, and four grandchildren. Memorial services: 11 a.m. Saturday in the church. No calling hours. Arrangements, Sell Funeral Home, Allentown. this was my father

"Lucky Lindy" took off from Long Island in New York and flew to Paris, covering  3,600 statute miles and flying for 33 1⁄2-hours. His plane "The Spirit of St. Louis" was a fabric-covered, single-seat, single-engine "Ryan NYP" high-wing monoplane designed by both Lindbergh and the manufacturer's chief engineer.

In 1960, when she was 33 years old, on May 1st, an American CIA U-2 spy plane, piloted by Francis Gary Powers, was shot down by a surface-to-air missile over the Soviet Union. Powers ejected and survived but was captured. The U.S. claimed that the U-2 was a "weather plane" but Powers was convicted in the Soviet Union of espionage. He was released in 1962 after 1 year, 9 months and 10 days in prison.
