Did you know?
In 1945, in the year that Kyung C Choe was born, on January 9th, the (over 8 month long) Battle of Luzon began in the Philippines with the United States and Filipino forces attacking Japanese forces - with the intent to take back control of the Philippines. By March, the Allies had taken control of all of the strategically and economically important locations in the Philippines but pockets of resistance held out until the surrender of Japan in August.

In 1950, by the time she was merely 5 years old, in February, Joe McCarthy gave a speech alleging that he had a list of "members of the Communist Party and members of a spy ring" who worked in the State Department. He went on to chair a committee that investigated not only the State Department but also the administration of President Harry S. Truman, the Voice of America, and the U.S. Army for communist spies - until he was condemned by the U.S. Senate in 1954.

Sturgis Rally - Celebrating 150 Years Of Motorcycles
Next week, the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in South Dakota is holding its 76th annual celebration. People come from all over the United States, and sometimes the world, to rally around their favorite form of transportation - motorcycles. Did you know the first steam motorcycle was built in 1867? Whether it's for touring, policing, racing, fighting a war, or delivering the mail, riding a bike has always just been a whole lot of fun!
