La Pera was born in 1950 in El Salvador. At the age of 16 she had a set of twins a boy and a girl name misa and gris. In her early 20s she married her husband Josue who was in his late 30s through marriage her family expanded to 8 she had 2 children of her own and her husband had 7 kids from his previous marriage but 4 of the kids lived with him, In her late 20s la Pera visited the US for the first time and fell I love with the state of Texas. Coming into the US only speaking Spanish over the next 20+ years she learned how to make ends meet to help support her family . In the early 2000s La Pera would separate from her husband once all her kids were grown and had life other their own. Always working hard to thrive for best and to keep herself busy she dedicated herself to her job as a cook for a restaurant that was owned by her cousin Fred. By the end of 2014 she was diagnosed with cancer not just any cancer but lung cancer the docs had informed her she only have about a year left since her cancer was at a stage four, with the help of cemotherapy she went on to live an additional year. With her sickness she would frequently travel to Mexico to seek treatment since it was cheaper there once she was done with her treatment she decided to go back home to El Salvador where she took her last breath on November 6.
