  • Ethnicity & Family History

Larry was an African American man with Native American (Cherokee and Choctaw) ancestry recent on his mother Orine’s side. He also had of course African and French ancestry.
  • Nationality & Locations

Larry was born in Acres Homes, Houston, TX and frequented the East Texas region where there are close relatives (Carthage, TX and Mt. Enterprise, TX).
  • Early Life & Education

He finished up to the 11th grade then dropped out to get into the working class.
  • Religious Beliefs

Larry was born into a household that had Christian beliefs but didn’t practice regular church attendance so it would better be classified as a secular home. It wasn’t until he met Tracy Bias that he became a practicing Christian and eventually a minister. He then raised his children in a strict Christian household.
  • Professional Career

Larry W. Roquemore was a pastor and also co-owned, with his wife Tracy, a daycare called Kingdom Kidz Care in Acres Homes where he grew up on the corner of Knoxx and Granville. The daycare also had a transportation system for the children that attended.
  • Personal Life & Family

Larry was a large, tall man who dedicated his life to having fun in every way possible. In his younger days, he grew up poor, but enjoyed bowling and play basketball, even competing several times. Unfortunately, Larry in his younger years, did get caught up with the wrong crowd that led to drug use and jail time, but with the help of his future wife, Tracy, cleaned up his act and became a role model and did outreach for the youth who grew up in similar conditions as he. Larry married Jan Roquemore, a Caucasian woman, around 22 years of age and had two biracial daughters, Deirdre Roquemore and Amber Roquemore. Larry was known to survive falling 3 floors and a head injury on a construction site where he was employed. He fully recovered. He and Jan divorced and he remained single for awhile until he married Tracy in 1992. With this union a blended family was made as Tracy already had two daughters of her own, Mikeshia Bias and Eddrena Agbekoh. On March 26, 1999, after trying for 7 years, Larry and Tracy welcomed baby girl, Lar’Travia Rosharon Roquemore. Then November 5, 2001, they welcomed baby boy and final child Lar’Rentre Dewayne Roquemore. There was such an age difference that by the time the last two were born, the other siblings were either grown or older teenagers. Larry was a very academically supportive father and accepted nothing less than honor roll from his children. Until kidney failure and heart problems, Larry Roquemore always kept a job or several as a carpenter, construction worker, plumber, chef (including being head chef at Chili’s), and eventually owning his own daycare (Kingdom Kids care). After Tracy’s death he was never the same. She left him with two toddlers to care for and to add on his plate the senior pastor and First Lady (for the sake of church politics and the “children”) “suggested” he marry fast. He married Malinda Bryant Austin Woodard in 2004, introduced by First Lady Sharon Moore and Senior pastor Roosevelt Moore, who married twice before. In the beginning she seemed nice, but in his latter years the marriage was troubled due to her treatment of his kids and he even talked of divorce and moving and taking his younger kids to stay with his daughter Eddrena Agbekoh and her husband, but he fell ill and became an amputee. He was cared for by his then teenage children along with a fussy Malinda , yet his fun character still shined through, even at his Dialysis clinic off N. Shepherd, even if it was dimmer than his former years. He passed Dec. 15, 2015 knowing he was loved by many, especially his daddy’s girl Lar’Travia (whom he nicknamed BooBoo baby) and his one and only son Lar’Rentre (whom he nicknamed Wermmm (emphasis on the heavy Texan accent of Worm)).
