Laura Ann (Morrow) Medley was born on January 2, 1827. She was married to William Marion Thomas Medley, and had children John A. Medley, Octavia Florence Bonner (Née Medley), Marcus Tullius Cicero Olmen Medley, Josephine T. Medley, William David Medley, Laura Jane Medley, and Samuel Thomas Medley. Laura Medley died at age 80 years old on March 22, 1907.

In 1827, in the year that Laura Ann Medley (Née Morrow) was born, on February 28th, the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad - the B&O - was incorporated. The B&O became the first railroad to carry both people and freight and was Maryland's answer to the Erie Canal. Construction began on July 4th, 1828.

In 1864, when she was 37 years old, on June 15th, Arlington National Cemetery was created in Arlington Virginia. 200 acres from the grounds of Robert E. Lee's home were set aside to be a military cemetery. The home and grounds had been in Lee's wife's family - she was a great-granddaughter of Martha Washington.
