She had siblings Clara Rose (Ablett) Smith, Alice Harriett Ablett, Louisa Beatrice Ablett, Elsie Emma Ablett, Alexander John Ablett, Esther Jane Ablett, Alfred George Ablett, Arthur Henry Albett, and Norman Hillyer Ablett. She married Edward Abraham Moore in 1905, and had children Linda May Moore, Lester Hart Moore, Thelma Laura Moore, Thelma Laura Cropley, and Alice Rosalyn Moore. Laura Moore died at age 75 years old on June 15, 1959.

Building began in 1848 but was stopped because of lack of funds and also due to the Civil War. It would be dedicated in 1885. At the time of its completion, it was the tallest structure in the world.

In 1928, at the age of 44 years old, Laura was alive when aviatrix Amelia Earhart, age 31, became the first woman to fly solo across North America and back in August. In June, she had been part of a 3 man crew that flew the Atlantic Ocean but since she had no instrument training, she couldn't fly the plane - she kept the flight log. The North American flight became one of her many "firsts" as a female pilot.
