Professional Baseball Executive. He was a dynamic and innovative executive who helped streamline the game of baseball. He won championships with the Dodgers in 1941 and the Yankees in 1947. He pioneered night baseball in Cincinnati in 1935. He was responsible for installing lights at Ebbets Field and Yankee Stadium. It was his idea to use planes to get players from city to city for games. He founded the stadium club operation and started pension plans for both players and front office personnel. He and his son Lee MacPhail were the first ever father-son pair to be enshined in the Baseball Hall of Fame.
