    Mr. Lemuel V. Hulsey, Jr. passed from his earthly life on Monday, January 24, 2011, at 8:35 a.m. He was in the Arbuckle Memorial Hospital in Sulphur, Oklahoma. He was Norman, Pauls Valley and Oklahoma Heart Hospitals from July 4 to November. In November he was sent to the Veterans Home in Sulphur and was there until January 24th. Mr. Hulsey went by the name L. V. Hulsey. He had several nicknames. Three of these were Nute, Hank and Spike. He was born January 29, 1926, to Lemuel Virgil Hulsey, Sr. and Addie Stephens Hulsey. The Hulsey’s are members of the Choctaw Tribe. They lived in the Stratford Township in Garvin County. After 1930 L. V. lived with his mother, younger sister and two uncles, David and Alex Stephens in the Crossroads Community. He lived and worked on the farm there until he graduated from Paoli High School in 1944. Shortly thereafter he enlisted in the Army Air Corp. At the end of World War II L. V. was discharged and returned home. He went to Chicago. He worked there and went to Coyne Electrical School. After finishing he returned to a job in Oklahoma City. While in Oklahoma City he met and married his first wife, Bernice Swanson. They moved to her home in Old Mystic, Connecticut. Their first son, Wayne Hulsey was born in New London, Connecticut. They lived on the farm in the Crossroads Community when they returned to Oklahoma. Their second child, Gary Hulsey, was born there. In 1951 L. V. was employed by Santa Fe Railroad. He worked 37 years for them as a Welder. He worked in Oklahoma and Texas. In Texas he met and married his second wife, Yvonne. They lived in Texas and then in Paoli, Oklahoma. His daughter, Lora Annette Hulsey, and a son, Jeff Hulsey, were born there. He moved back to Ft. Worth, Texas for at time and then purchased his house in Pauls Valley. He has lived her since his retirement in 1988 from the Santa Fe Railroad. As long as he was able, he raised and took care of his cattle and catfish in the ponds on the farm. He did gardening every year and enjoyed cooking: hot chili, special pot roast, fried chicken, and beans and cornbread. He is survived by three sons, Wayne Hulsey, Gary Hulsey, Jeff Hulsey and one daughter, Lora Annette Hulsey and one sister, Lora Erwin. Lemuel was preceded in death by his parents, Lemuel Virgil Hulsey, Sr. and Addie Stephens Hulsey. Funeral services will be held Monday, January 31, 2011, at 2:00 pm at Stufflebean Chapel of Remembrance officiated by Bro. Brad Nicar. Interment will be at Paoli Cemetery under the direction of Stufflebean-Coffey Funeral Home. Lemuel was also survived by several grandchildren who were not listed in the obituary. Tammie Hulsey (Gilliam), Geremy Moody, Gary Hulsey Jr, and ReDonna Hulsey and also 2 great grandchildren, Arielle Gilliam and Aydan Gilliam.
