  • Introduction

    I remember sitting on a swing in a backyard with my Aunt Lena, she was the only female relative, in my adopted family that sincerely loved me. A stranger story is this: When I was 11years old, I was sleeping in my bed and I awoke to see Aunt Lena sitting at the end of my bed, smiling. She said that she loved me and would see me later. I went down the hallway where I heard my adopted father crying, my adopted mother said he was very sad. I told them, that I knew why, that Aunt Lena had died, they were shocked as they had not told me this. They asked how I knew, and I told them she had come and sat on my bed and told me. I have never forgotten this or her kindness towards me. Ironically, my sons daughter is named Lena.God is good!

The company that he worked for needed to find a way to control humidity and by solving this problem, Carrier created a system that could be used for cooling the rooms of a house. In 1926, she was 24 years old when on October 31st, Harry Houdini died in Michigan. Houdini was the most famed magician of his time and perhaps of all time, especially for his acts involving escapes - from handcuffs, straitjackets, chains, ropes slung from skyscrapers, and more. He was president of the Society of American Magicians and stringently upheld professional ethics. He died of complications from a ruptured appendix. Although he had received a blow to the area a couple of days previously, the connection between the blow and his appendicitis is disputed.
