    Leo H. Hornung passed away peacefully at home on March 1,2019. He was 84 years old. Beloved husband of Eleanor (nee Berna). Loving father of Leo J. Hornung (Ann Bailey),Lisa Scranton (Timothy),William L. Hornung (Betsy) and Paul J. Hornung (Beth). Also survived by his 12 grandchildren. Relatives and friends are invited to the viewing on Thursday,March 7,from 9:15-10:45 A.M. at the Christ Our Light Church,402 N. Kings Highway,Cherry Hill,NJ 08034. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 A.M. Interment will follow at the Bridge General William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery,N. Hanover Township. In lieu of flowers,memorial donations may be made to Leo's name to the Parkinson Foundation (www.parkinson.org.) To Plant Memorial Trees in memory,please visit our Sympathy Store.

In 1934, in the year that Leo Hubert Hornung was born, on July 22nd, gangster John Dillinger was killed in Chicago. His gang had robbed banks and police stations, among other charges, and he was being hunted by J. Edgar Hoover, head of the FBI - although many in the public saw him as a "Robin Hood". A madam from a brothel in which he was hiding became an informer for the FBI and, after a shootout with FBI agents, Dillinger was shot and died.

In 1947, by the time he was only 13 years old, on November 25th, the Hollywood "Black List" was created by the House Un-American Activities Committee (HUAC). Ten Hollywood writers and directors had refused to testify to the Committee regarding "Communists" or "Reds" in the movie industry. The next day, the blacklist was created and they were fired.
