He had siblings Vera Adeline Hill, Alberta Cecilia Wartzki, Julius Louis Wartzki, Olga Cecelia Entwistle, Ivan Meyer Elias Wartzki, Louis Zalma Wartzki, Cecil Baden Powell Wartzki, Nina Wartzki, Zara Wartzki, Isidore Wartzki, and Audrey Pearl Wartzki. Leon Wartzki died at age 64 years old on August 19, 1970 in Heidelberg.

  • Introduction

    Leon was born on March 17, 1906 to Cecelia and Isidore Wartzki. Leon married Marie (Myra) Elaine Elliott on 28th October, 1933. They had no children. Leon was a Corporal in the Australian Flying Corp. No. 77 Squadron, Myra was also in the forces and they both served in Darwin in late 1948. Myra had a son named Alan Gordon Meager and he lived at 95 Canterbury Road, Middle Park. Leon died on 19th August, 1970.

In 1906, in the year that Leon Wartzki was born, abolitionist and suffragette leader Susan B. Anthony died, before women's right to vote nationally was realized (in 1920). She, along with Elizabeth Cady Stanton, founded the National American Woman Suffrage Association which later became the League of Women Voters. She died at the age of 86 of heart failure and pneumonia in her home in New York.
