She resided in Syracuse Ward 7, Onondaga, New York and later moved to North Hempstead, Nassau, New York, United States. She passed away in California on February 25, 1963. His father Michel was born on September 15, 1875 in Leleshow, Calaudbormerly, Russia. He departed from Liverpool, England on September 26, 1901 and arrived in New York in 1902. He worked as a teacher and then also worked as an organist in New York, New York. He became a naturalized citizen in September of 1913 in the District Court Nassau County, Mincola, NY. He passed away on September 30, 1952 in New York, New York, USA.

In 1922, at the age of merely 11 years old, Leonard was alive when on June 22, coal miners in Herrin Illinois, were on strike (coal miners had been on strike nationally since April 1). The striking miners were outraged at the strikebreakers (scabs) that the company had brought in and laid siege to the mine. Three union workers were killed when gunfire was exchanged. The next day, union miners killed 23 strikebreakers and mine guards. No one, on either side, ever faced jail time.
