HOCKLEY, TX - Mrs. Lila Lee Bertrand passed from this life Monday evening, August 24, 2009, at her home. Born August 9, 1949 in Galveston, TX, Mrs. Bertrand had been a resident of Hockley for 9 years, previously of Houston. She had been employed as a meat and seafood wrapper with Albertson’s for many years. Lilia enjoyed the outdoors and loved spending time with her grandchildren and dog “Sugar”. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Bertha (O’Conner) Bertrand and daughter, Sherry Rene. Survivors include her husband, Eugene Jay; daughters, Stacy Martinez of Houston, Nikki Kershner of Colorado; sister, Charlene Monroe of TX and 7 grandchildren. Lila will always hold a special place in those who were blessed to have had her in their lives. Rest in peace Lila.

Lila has two daughters, Stacy and Nikki. Grandkids that she was so very proud of. She had a little dog named Sugar and a big Rottie. She worked for Albertsons for many years. Her and I were coworkers and quickly became great friends. She was a kind soul, a great friend, outspoken, told it like it was and someone you could always count on and trust 100%, something that is so rare these days. She was a hard working, tough little chic, and I am beyond blessed to have had her in my life. Rest In Peace Lila, you are greatly missed.
