Lillian Elizabeth Wyble Truett, 85, of Severna Park, died of a stroke Monday at the Meridian Nursing Home in Severna Park after a lengthy illess.
Born and raised in Baltimore, Mrs. Truett retired in 1963 as a teacher at primary and elementary schools in Brooklyn Park after 22 years of employment. She was a past treasurer of the Brooklyn Park Elementary School PTA. She lived in Brooklyn Park for 25 years and then Severna Park for 36 years. During World War II she was a sector air raid warden in Brooklyn Park.
A founder of the Brooklyn Park Health Center, she also belonged to Chapter 43 of the Order of the Eastern Star and Pasadena United Methodist Church. Her interests included gardening, reading and birdwatching.
Her husband of 48 years, James W. Truett, died in 1975.
Surviving are two sons, James W. Truett Jr. of Annapolis and Richard F. Truett of Odenton; two daughters, Lillian May Swinimer of Severn and Pearl E. Carpenter of Glen Burnie; two sisters, Ruth Cole and Ethel Tullius of Brooklyn Park; 19 grandchildren; and 45 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Pasadena United Methodist Church, Ritchie Highway, with burial in Lorraine Park Cemetery in Baltimore. Arrangements are by Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home.
