On January 1, 1966 , Linda enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. In June 1966 while stationed at the Marine Corps. Air Station at Cherry Point, N.C., Linda went on her first blind date. She met William (Bill) Shephard, a Navy Man. Bill and Linda married ten months later. Ten months after being married, their only child, Robert Joseph, was born. As of this writing, January 30, 2024, they have been married for 56 years.
