Lionel's parents were Jesse (sic) L. Birkla and Jella Myrtle Gustin (some records say that her name was "Zella") When Lionel was born, Jesse was age 33 and a blacksmith. Jella was 32 and a housewife. Lionel was her 2nd child. Lionel had siblings Joanne, Phillip, and Larry. Lionel had children Ronald, Gregory, Michelle, and Michael.
