About Dr. Lloyd W. Kitchens, Jr.
Lloyd Wade Kitchens, Jr. was born at St. Dominic Hospital in downtown Jackson, Mississippi, on October 19, 1946. He was the second child of Lloyd Wade Kitchens (1916-1976) and Edith Fullilove Kitchens (1914-2019). He had one older brother, James Warren Kitchens (1943- ), and one younger brother, Richard Wright Kitchens (1952-2025). The Kitchens family resided in Crystal Springs, Mississippi, a small town about 25 miles south of Jackson.
All of the Kitchens brothers graduated from Crystal Springs Consolidated School. Lloyd, Jr. graduated in 1964. He earned a B. A. degree and an M. D. degree from the University of Mississippi and practiced medicine for about 30 years in Dallas, Texas, specializing in medical oncology and hematology. He was the father of three children: Elizabeth Kitchens Landers, Lloyd Wade Kitchens, III, and Benjamin Lee Kitchens.
Dr. Kitchens was a highly respected physician and an accomplished pianist. He achieved Master's status in the American College of Physicians.
Dr. Kitchens died at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas on August 23, 2001. He was buried in Dallas.
