  • Personal Life & Family

In the early 1940's Lloyd followed the advice of his doctors and moved his family (wife Florence, son Jerry and daughter Sharon) to Arizona, the dryer climate was expected to help breathing issues. While there he met Bing Crosby, famous singer and movie star. There are 2 differing versions of their relationship, Bing offered Lloyd a job as a ranch hand, caring for his horses. Either Lloyd turned him down saying he came to Arizona to live his remaining years spending time with his family - or - Lloyd took the job and Bing fired him in a dispute over how to handle the horses. Bing bought Sharon a cute cowgirl outfit. Regardless, after several months or a few years, Lloyd moved the family back to Minnesota wanting to live in the area he loved. He outlived everyone of those doctors who sent him south.
