Obituary

Lois was born near Bismarck, North Dakota on her parents' farm; about 3 years later her family moved to Portland, Oregon. Although she loved playing piano and dreamed of studying music, after graduating from Roosevelt High School she acquired secretarial skills. In 1945 she married R.H. "Rip" Haraden and after the birth of their first daughter in 1948, they moved from Portland to Yreka, California. In 1952 their second daughter was born. Lois had a lifetime love of music, and was for many years organist at the Christian Science Church, of which she was a dedicated member. In 1964 she returned to secretarial work, first in the guidance counselor's office at the high school, then as assistant to the Siskiyou County assessor for 15 years. After retirement she was able to spend more time gardening and studying music. She especially loved roses.
