Lonnie William-Lawrence (Walker) Mcbride of Hampton, Hampton City County, Virginia was born on January 10, 1902 to Lawrence Walker and Julia Ann Walker. She married James Archibald McBride, and had a child Margaret McClain: Not Natural but Raised Her as A Daughter.. Lonnie Mcbride died at age 81 years old in May 1983.

    My Grandmother or as I called her Mama was a sprited person who never had biological children but raised 3 generations. She was kind but curt; she had a big heart and felt for others. Overall, I take from her life being able to care and love others uncontionally!

Accompanied by only a piano, his voice recordings became a big seller and did much to popularize the new-fangled gramophone. He had to sing into a metal "horn" that relayed his voice to a metal disc. And the songs had to be under 4 and a half minutes!
