Louis first served in the CCCs in the late 1930's. During his CCC service he traveled to the Grand Canyon, AZ where he helped establish and maintain the Bright Angel trail on the North Rim. He later traveled with the CCCs to Glacier Park, Montana for similar work. He met his first grizzly bear in a shed while stationed in Glacier Park and loved telling his family about it. He married Margaret Mary Peel in 1956 and had two children (Lorraine in 1958 and Jane in 1966). Louis loved his family, steam locomotives, H&O layouts, photography, travel, his religion, and all things Polish. He vacationed with his family many times in Atlantic City, NJ in the 1960's and 70's and in later years traveled with his family to San Francisco California, Whitefish Montana and Jackson Hole Wyoming by Amtrak. Louis spent his last years in the Shenandoah Manor Nursing home where his family (especially his wife Marge) took great care of him. He passed to eternal life on 19 Jan 2006.
