Louis Carlson 1903 - 1966

Louis E. Carlson was born in 1903 to Carl E. Carlson and Ida (Torgerson) Carlson, and had siblings Helen (Carlson) Halverson, Gilbert Carlson, LeRoy Carlson, Alice Carlson, C. Henry Carlson, Melvin Carlson, Ruben Carlson, and Albert Carlson. He married Marian Karpenske Carlson and they later divorced. He had children Shirley (Carlson) Linder and Norman Richard Alan Carlson. Louis Carlson died at age 63 years old in 1966, and was buried in 1966 at Amery Cemetery in Amery, Polk County, Wisconsin USA.

In 1903, in the year that Louis Carlson was born, the first World Series of American baseball was played between October 1st and 13th. The Boston Americans of the American League played the Pittsburgh Pirates of the National League. Boston came back from a three game to one deficit, winning the final four games to capture the title - such a large comeback wouldn't be repeated by a team until 1925. (A total of eight games were played.)

In 1924, Louis was 21 years old when on January 21st, Vladimir Lenin, a leader of the Russian Revolution and the first leader of the Soviet Union died. He had survived two assassination attempts but had subsequent physical problems, suffering 3 strokes. He was in such great pain, it is said that he asked Stalin to poison him. The circumstances of his death are still disputed. He did oppose Stalin as the next leader - nonetheless, Stalin won a power struggle and ruled as a Soviet dictator until his death in 1953.
