  • Introduction

My father was 43 years old when I was born and I only knew him for 13 years when he died on April 10, 1972 at 56 years of age. While I was growing up in Richmond my father worked full time as a master mechanic at Colgate Palmolive factory at 2700 Seventh Street in Berkeley, CA. The factory produced soap and other household products. My father was born on a ranch (a "truck" farm) in Rancho San Pablo. I actually have the grant deed agreement of my grandfather, Frank Regello, purchasing the 10 acre ranch on March 1, 1911. The legal description does not have a Lot number but it does include a detailed meets and bounds description of the property purchased from the Queens Land Company.

This iteration of the Klan adopted white clothing and used many of the code words from the first Klan, adding cross burnings and mass marches in an attempt to intimidate others.
Did you know?
In 1924, when he was merely 9 years old, in May, wealthy college students Nathan Leopold and Richard Loeb kidnapped and killed 14 year old Robert Franks "in the interest of science". Leopold and Loeb thought that they were intellectually superior and that they could commit the perfect crime and not be caught. They were brought in for questioning within 8 days and quickly confessed. Clarence Darrow was hired as their defense lawyer, getting them life imprisonment instead of a death sentence. Loeb was eventually killed in prison - Leopold was released after 33 years, dying of a heart attack at age 66.
