Louis Eichinger, Signal Corps, US Army
I believe this is a photo of Dad when he was a newly commissioned Lieutenant in the OCS circa 1951. He is wearing Signal Corps branch insignia on his collar. The shoulder patch represents his service in WWII with the Sixth Army. This photo may also be from his assignment to the 16th Signal Battalion with assignment to Fort Lewis, Washington. Above the left breast pocket, he is wearing the Glider badge even though he also had earned the Airborne badge (both in 1944). He would later serve in two campaigns of the Korean Conflict (1952-53) and the Vietnam conflict (1962). He would retire as a Colonel after 36 years of service. -- contributed by M.Eichinger
Date & Place: at Fort Lewis, WA
