Louvenia Mattox Thornton of Bowman, Elbert County, Georgia was born circa October 12, 1879 to Wyatt Mattox and Mary Tate Mattox. She had siblings Elizabeth Mattox Gibbs, Vohammie Mattox, Earley Mattoxa Beautiful Singing, Robert Mattox, Eliza Mattox, John Henry Mattox, Ella Mattox, Essie Mattox Howard, and George Washington Mattox. Louvenia was baptized at Dove Creek Baptist Church elberton,ga 30635, in elberton. She married John Thornion, and died at age 99 years old in April 1979. Louvenia Thornton was buried in 1979 at rock springs methodist Church dewy rose ga, in elberton.

    raised two nephews together as brothers,jt mattox and john Walton.she was God fearing and loved everyone.she would reather give than receive.she grew up in a large family and had values as high as the sky above.john Walton married Estelle hunt.to this union three lovely girls were born-addie mae,willie ann,and faye Corliss.the Walton family moved to buffalo,ny in 1957,but has remained close to the mattox/thornton families throughout the years.jt mattox died in 1979 and john Walton died in 1982.

louvenia,s grand parents were jack and mary mattox which were origionally from Bedford virgina jack and mary moved to elbert co ga as slaves with owner david mattox.the mattoxes have grown through many years and generations from jack in1809 to john Thomas in 1920.john Thomas married Bessie lee Morrison in 1944 and to this union eleven children were born.mary Eleanor,gloria Christine,thomas lee,john earl,mac Winston,blenda louvenia,corliss magnolia,rembert Charles,carl timothy,gander Ronald,and cathy uvell.john Thomas and Bessie lee,s greatest joy was to see all eleven children graduate from college.to God be the glory amen'
