Loveday Amelia Keys ( Butler ( Stephens 1864 - 1928

Loveday Amelia (Stephens) Keys was born in 1864 in Clunes, Hepburn Shire County, VIC Australia to Samuel Stephens and Jane Stephens ( Moyle, and had a brother Arthur Paul Stephens. She married George Keys., and they had children Linda Jane Grieve ( Keys and Albert George Keys. She married Thomas Butler, and they had children John Thomas Butler and Samuel Lincoln Butler. Loveday Keys died at age 63 years old on December 2, 1928 in Williamstown, Hobsons Bay City County, and was buried at Williamstown Cemetery Champion Rd, in Williamstown.

KEYS.- On the 2nd December, at her late residence, 138 Cecil street, Williamstown, Loveday Amelia, the dearly beloved wife of George Keys, and loving mother of Jack and Lin Butler, Cecilia ( Mrs. Nelson ), Linda ( Mrs. Grieve ), George Keys, Louis Keys, Herbert Keys, Cecil Nelson ( deceased ), and Elsie ( Mrs. Hampshire ). Aged 64 years. Dearly loved. The Argus, Melbourne. 5th December 1928. KEYS.- At her late residence, 138 Cecil street, Williamstown, Loveday Amelia, loving sister of Mrs. Jewkes ( Sydney ), Samuel Edwin ( deceased ), Lydia ( deceased ), Frederick John ( deceased ), Arthur Paul, Mrs. Darby, Elisabeth J. In 1864, in the year that Loveday Amelia Keys ( Butler ( Stephens was born, on April 22nd, the Coinage Act of 1864 was passed by Congress. It mandated that "In God We Trust" was to be placed on all United States coins and created a 2 cent coin. Later - in 1956 - "In God We Trust" replaced "E Pluribus Unum" - which means out of many, one - as the national motto.

In 1874, when she was only 10 years old, on September 14th, the Battle of Liberty Place occurred in New Orleans - the capital of Louisiana. Some members of the previous Confederate Army assembled for the purpose of "driving the usurpers from power" and the Republican Governor - William P. Kellogg - was physically driven from his office. The former Confederates temporarily replaced him with (the former) Democratic Governor John McEnery. Federal forces arrived, put down the insurrection, and five days later the legally elected government was restored.
