Lucille Antoinette (Romo) Scharrer was born on January 11, 1927 in Hoboken, Hudson County, New Jersey United States. She was married to Richard Peter Scharrer in 1949 in Hempstead, Nassau County, New York, and they were together until Richard's death on April 23, 2002 in Ridge, Suffolk County. She had children Margaret Anne Scharrer, Barbara Anne Scharrer, and William Joseph Scharrer. Lucille Scharrer died at age 89 years old on July 5, 2016 in Ridge, Suffolk County, and was buried on July 11, 2016 at Calverton National Cemetery in Wading River.

In 1927, in the year that Lucille Antoinette Scharrer was born, aviator and media darling Charles Lindbergh, age 25, made the first successful solo TransAtlantic flight. "Lucky Lindy" took off from Long Island in New York and flew to Paris, covering  3,600 statute miles and flying for 33 1⁄2-hours. His plane "The Spirit of St. Louis" was a fabric-covered, single-seat, single-engine "Ryan NYP" high-wing monoplane designed by both Lindbergh and the manufacturer's chief engineer.

In 1939, Lucille was only 12 years old when in May, Disney's Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, the first full-length animated film, reached a total international gross of $6.5 million which made it (to then) the most successful sound film of all time. First released in December 1937, it was originally dubbed "Disney's Folly" but the premiere received a standing ovation from the audience. At the 11th Academy Awards in February 1939, Walt Disney won an Academy Honorary Award - a full-size Oscar statuette and seven miniature ones - for Snow White.
