Lucy Emma Jane (Bowra) McGlew was born in 1852 to John William Atlee Bowra and Anne Eliza (Rewell) Bowra, and had siblings John Sydabad Bowra, William Charles Bowra, and Frederick James Bowra. She married William Henry McGlew, and had children Harold Duncan McGlew, Henry Atlee McGlew, Francis Alfred McGlew, Alexander Cecil McGlew, Lionel Edgar McGlew, Ruby Mildred Harley, and Muriel Lucy Evans. Lucy McGlew died at age 49 years old on January 25, 1902 in Glen Forrest ( Smith's Mill ), Shire of Mundaring County, Western Australia, and was buried at Karrakatta Cemetery Railway Rd, in Karrakatta, City of Nedlands County, WA Australia.

In 1865, she was only 13 years old when on September 26th, Champ Ferguson, a Confederate guerrilla, became the first person to be convicted of war crimes arising from the Civil War. (There was only one other person convicted of war crimes in the Civil War.) He was found guilty by a U.S. Army tribunal on 23 charges arising from the murder of 53 people. On October 20, he was hung.
