WHAT I"VE BEEN TOLD
He only had one leg having lost one due to disease. His wife,Alice Grooms Mckissick ,my Grandmother, said he was a handsome man who she married in 1925. Their children were Luther Jr.(Died at 7 weeks old) , Althea Lee ,1928-1988,(My Mother) , Joseph Samuel,1934-1949 (Died at age 14 of rheumatic fever) , 2 twin daughters died at birth. Unfortunately ,he shot and killed my Grandmother's uncle,John Dick after they had an argument and fist fight. He served 7 years in Kilby Prison in Montgomery. My Grandmother shot and wounded him in a domestic dispute in 1957. He held on for about a week dying because he couldn't get a necessary blood transfusion(In 1957 ,hospitals didn't mix Black and White blood)
