She was first married to Earl Cundiff, and then to Earl J. Grear (1896-1967). Both of her husbands preceded her in death. She had one child with her first husband, a son named Earl Cundiff Jr who did not survive. He was born and died in 1922. Mabel Grear died on Friday, Aug. 18, 1978, at her home in Herrin, Williamson County, Illinois.

Published in the SouthernIllinoisan Newspaper (Carbondale, Illinois) on Sunday August 20, 1978: Mable Grear, 76, of 521 N. 20th St., Herrin, died Friday, Aug. 18, 1978, at her home. Mrs. Grear was a member of the Herrin Senior Citizens. She was born in Illinois on March 6, 1902, to Will and Maude Johnson Browne. She was first married to Earl Cundiff, who preceded her in death, and then to Earl Grear, who also preceded her in death. Survivors include a nephew, Barwin Browne of Saugus, Calif.: and two nieces, Jacqueline Cavanaugh of Northridge, Calif., and Linda Davis of Granite Citv. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Van Natta Funeral Home in Herrin. Burial will be in the Tower Grove Cemetery in Murphysboro.
