Did you know?
In 1919, in the year that Mae R Finn was born, on January 6th, President Theodore Roosevelt died. Having gone to bed the previous night after being treated for breathing problems, the ex-President died in his sleep from a clot that had traveled to his lungs. He was 60. After a simple service, Roosevelt was buried on a hillside overlooking Oyster Bay.

In 1924, at the age of just 5 years old, Mae was alive when on January 21st, Vladimir Lenin, a leader of the Russian Revolution and the first leader of the Soviet Union died. He had survived two assassination attempts but had subsequent physical problems, suffering 3 strokes. He was in such great pain, it is said that he asked Stalin to poison him. The circumstances of his death are still disputed. He did oppose Stalin as the next leader - nonetheless, Stalin won a power struggle and ruled as a Soviet dictator until his death in 1953.

Automobile Evolution - 108th Anniversary of the Model T
On October 1st 1908, Henry Ford's first production Model T was completed in the Ford Piquette Avenue plant in Detroit Michigan, where they would eventually build around 15 million cars. While it wasn't the first car produced, it was the first car "made for the masses" making transportation easier than ever. Costing $500 by 1917, the average middle class family could finally afford a car and the race to building highways and infrastructure was on! The Model T (1908 - 1927), contrary to popular memory, was built by Henry Ford before the Model A (which was built from 1927 - 1931). But Ford wasn't the only automobile producer during the first half of the 20th century. This collection of photos shows various models and our love of cars throughout history.
