Did you know?
In 1907, in the year that Mansell Finn was born, in October, over a 3 week period, the New York stock exchange fell almost 50% from the previous year's high mark. Public panic ensued and there were runs on banks since the U.S. was in the middle of a recession. J.P. Morgan offered his own fortune to back the banks and he was followed by other financiers. This temporarily shored up the banking system, stopping the immediate panic. All of this led to the creation of the Federal Reserve.
Did you know?
In 1927, at the age of 20 years old, Mansell was alive when aviator and media darling Charles Lindbergh, age 25, made the first successful solo TransAtlantic flight. "Lucky Lindy" took off from Long Island in New York and flew to Paris, covering 3,600 statute miles and flying for 33 1⁄2-hours. His plane "The Spirit of St. Louis" was a fabric-covered, single-seat, single-engine "Ryan NYP" high-wing monoplane designed by both Lindbergh and the manufacturer's chief engineer.

Desmond Doss The Real Life Hero of Hacksaw Ridge
Desmond Doss, born in Virginia in 1919, was the first conscientious objector to receive the Medal of Honor. He saved by his count 50 (by the Army's count 75) men in the Battle of Hacksaw Ridge and was later awarded the Medal of Honor for his brave efforts. He was also left with one lung due to contracting TB and lost five ribs from injuries along with most of his hearing due to the antibiotics used to treat the TB. After World War 2, Desmond returned home to his wife and bought a small farm in Georgia where he lived until his death in 2006. This is his true story (all quotes are from The Conscientious Objector Documentary):
