Margherita (Gemmola) Alfieri's father was Charles Rosario Sorro Gemmola, also spelled Jemmola, (1876 - 1955), born in Italy. Her mother was Maria Elisabetta Malfetti (1879 - 1918), born in Sicily. She had siblings Santa, Christopher, Marie, and Grace. When Margaret was 7, her family was living in New York, New York, where she was born. Besides her parents, Santa and Christopher were in the household. Dad was working as a roofer. Margherita married Andrew Alfieri (1892 - 1977) on October 14, 1923, in Manhattan. They had two daughters and a son: Victor, Marie, and Betty. Margaret was born in New York City and lived most of her life there. She moved to Florida 22 years before she died.

The following obituary appeared in Fort Lauderdale News (Fort Lauderdale, Florida) 04 Oct 1981, Sun on Page 38: ALFIERI Margaret J. Alfieri, 79, of Fort Lauderdale passed away Friday. She came to the area 22 years ago from New York. Survivors include her son Victor of East Meadow, Long Island, NY; two daughters, Marie Cosentino of Lauderdale Lakes and Betty Hardin of Lauderhill; two sisters, Tina Natalie of New Jersey and Marie Oglio of Long Island City, NY; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 7 to 9 pm at the funeral home. Wake service to be held on Monday 7:30 pm. Mass of Christian Burial to be held on Tuesday 9 am at the St. George Catholic Church. Interment to follow at the Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
