    SYLVANIA - Margaret J. Traband, 91, formerly of Huron, died Sunday, October 24, 2010 in Sunset Village Nursing Home, Sylvania, OH. She was born March 9, 1919 in Pittsburgh, Pa. and has been a Huron resident since 1943. She worked as a registered nurse at Lorain Ford Company, then at Conrad-NASA for 7 years, and then at Lorain Community Hospital for 8 years. She is a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, Huron; the Altar Society of the Church; and the National Association of Registered Nurses. Survivors include two daughters, Joanne (Thomas) Hall of Cincinnati, and Joyce Ann Parillo of Clarkston, MI; two sons, Charles M. (Margaret Fitzgerald) Traband Jr. of Ottawa Hills, OH, and Frederick W. Traband of Huron; 11 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles M. Traband Sr.; parents, Joseph and Mary (Pillar) Mattey; and brothers, John, Andrew, and George Mattey. There will be no visitation. A memorial Mass will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at St. Peter Catholic Church, 430 Main Street, Huron with Father Phil Feltman, officiating. Burial will be in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.

Having gone to bed the previous night after being treated for breathing problems, the ex-President died in his sleep from a clot that had traveled to his lungs. He was 60. After a simple service, Roosevelt was buried on a hillside overlooking Oyster Bay.

In 1926, she was just 7 years old when on October 31st, Harry Houdini died in Michigan. Houdini was the most famed magician of his time and perhaps of all time, especially for his acts involving escapes - from handcuffs, straitjackets, chains, ropes slung from skyscrapers, and more. He was president of the Society of American Magicians and stringently upheld professional ethics. He died of complications from a ruptured appendix. Although he had received a blow to the area a couple of days previously, the connection between the blow and his appendicitis is disputed.
