Margaret Nugent was born in Tallycillick, Monaghan, Ireland Oct 31 1876
Biography
Margaret Nugent/Taft/Tufts was born & raised in Ireland. She lived on a Turkey farm in a one bedroom house with a thatched roof. When her siblings came to America she stayed behind to take care of her sick mom. Her mother died while the Potato Famine was happening from Exaution from burns . She found work as a Cabinet maid when she came to New York & that's were she meet her husband Charles Taft/Tuft
Margaret and Charles lived in a two room Flat in west side of New York City. There daughter Margaret shared a bed with her 2 brothers. A fire department was across the street & a railroad went by there house. In about 1908 they moved to a farm in upstate New York in Peekskill. They went to Peekskill in a horse-drawn Carriage on a rainy night when they moved. The house was big & set back from the road with big cherry trees on both sides of the house. There was a wall around the front edge of property. Most there childeren did farm work. They had many animals on the farm. They had a horse named Nellie & a dog named Duke.
