Did you know?
In 1809, in the year that Marion Brocker was born, on December 30th, Boston Massachusetts banned the wearing of masks at balls. Boston was following many other places - including England - by banning masked balls, which were considered to contribute to loose morals. After all, with masks, you couldn't tell the class of the person or even their gender! The law was extended in 1849 and repealed in 1963.

In 1810, at the age of just 1 year old, Marion was alive when in October, King George III of the United Kingdom - King of England during the American Revolutionary War - was recognized as insane. Although he reigned until his death in 1820, he was mentally ill - the cause is unknown - and in 1810 regency was established to oversee his rule. His eldest son was recognized as Prince Regent.
