    MARION L. WARREN RAPID CITY - Marion L. Warren, 79, Rapid City, died Saturday, March 9, 2002, at Rapid City Regional Hospital. Survivors include one son, Steve Warren, Aberdeen; and one sister, Margie Walby, Bismark, North Dakota. Arrangements are pending with Osheim-Catron Funeral Home in Rapid City. - Rapid City Journal (Rapid City, South Dakota) Sunday, March 10, 2002 on page 42.

In 1922, in the year that Marion L Warren was born, on June 22, coal miners in Herrin Illinois, were on strike (coal miners had been on strike nationally since April 1). The striking miners were outraged at the strikebreakers (scabs) that the company had brought in and laid siege to the mine. Three union workers were killed when gunfire was exchanged. The next day, union miners killed 23 strikebreakers and mine guards. No one, on either side, ever faced jail time.

In 1936, she was just 14 years old when on November 2nd, the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) debuted the world's first regular high-definition television service. The channel had a short schedule - Monday through Saturday, 3:00p to 4:00p and 9:00p to 10:00p. The first broadcast was "Opening of the BBC Television Service".
