Introduction

in 1950 , I was ten years old , my step father was Bud G. Galmer, father of Margie . At the time she was living in Kansas (maybe Kansas City) it was Thanksgiving. She came for a visit to Duncan Ok where we lived, with her live in guy named Dale (don't remember his name ) but I have a photo. They took me back with them and her sister Dorthy came also for Thanksgiving. I stayed two wks and they brought me home. Margie was always good to me. Life was hard then and we were poor. My stepfather liked to drink and so did Margie. They used to go to the bars and get drunk. I remember some other things also, if anyone is interested.

In 1937, she was only 11 years old when on May 28th, the San Francisco Golden Gate Bridge opened to cars. Taking 5 years to build, the 4,200-foot-long suspension bridge was an engineering marvel of its time - 11 men died during construction. The "international orange" color was chosen because it resisted rust and fading. To the present, it is the symbol of the City that is known throughout the world.
