Marjorie graduated from Concord High School in New Hampshire in 1925. She then became a psychology major at the University of New Hampshire, where she met and married Hrant Garabed Gulumian. She gave birth to twin girls on June 25, 1930. Hrant and Marjorie then returned to school and graduated in 1931, with Marjorie having been included in the Phi Kappa Phi scholastic honorary fraternity.

Marjorie worked for a time as the town librarian and also ran a kindergarten. She primarily dedicated her life to helping her husband and raising her three daughters.
