She had siblings Stella Pearl Pithie, Dulcie Irene Pithie, Dorothy Jean Pithie, Hazel Millie Pithie, William Rmond Pithie, Hazel Amelia Sherlock, Edward Norman Pithie, Kenneth James Pithie, and Eric John Pithie. Marjory Pithie died at age 3 years old in 1927 in Eaglehawk.

In 1924, in the year that Marjory Joan Pithie was born, on January 21st, Vladimir Lenin, a leader of the Russian Revolution and the first leader of the Soviet Union died. He had survived two assassination attempts but had subsequent physical problems, suffering 3 strokes. He was in such great pain, it is said that he asked Stalin to poison him. The circumstances of his death are still disputed. He did oppose Stalin as the next leader - nonetheless, Stalin won a power struggle and ruled as a Soviet dictator until his death in 1953.

In 1927, in the year of Marjory Joan Pithie's passing, aviator and media darling Charles Lindbergh, age 25, made the first successful solo TransAtlantic flight. "Lucky Lindy" took off from Long Island in New York and flew to Paris, covering  3,600 statute miles and flying for 33 1⁄2-hours. His plane "The Spirit of St. Louis" was a fabric-covered, single-seat, single-engine "Ryan NYP" high-wing monoplane designed by both Lindbergh and the manufacturer's chief engineer.
