Mark was loved
Mark was my first love, albeit young puppy love, and he loved me. As a young man, he loved his friends, metal music, especially hair bands, loved Metallica (favorite song was One.) “now that the war is through with me, I’m waking up and can not see that there isn’t much left of me. Oh please god help me”’ I sang the lyrics wrong and he would tease me. He was an excellent artist, loved dungeons and dragons, and loved his family. He had demons, but we all do. He came to see me over a decade after our relationship ended and told me he still loved me, and that every girl that came after, he would compare to me, and that I was his soulmate. I had just gotten married months before he showed up on my porch, I knew he was struggling, it was written all over him. I should have helped more. When he loved, he loved hard and the world is a dimmer place without him here. Forever 28. I will always hold a place in my heart for him.
