Marmaduke Kimbrough Jr. was born in 1769 in North Carolina United States to Marmaduke Kimbrough and Mary Jane (Turner) Kimbrough, and had siblings Anna (Kimbrough) Garner, George Kimbrough, Goldman Kimbrough, and Orman Kimbrough. Marmaduke Kimbrough died at age 61 years old in 1830.

In 1805, when he was 36 years old, on October 21st, Lord Nelson defeated the French and Spanish fleets in the Battle of Trafalgar in Spain. 33 British ships fought 41 ships from Spain and France. The Franco-Spanish fleet lost 22 ships while the British lost none. The battle ended plans to invade Great Britain.
