    Martin Edward Ziehe was born to Gerhard Bernhard Ludwig Ziehe (1870 - 1948) and Johanna Louise Christina Lisetta Mirianna Behm (1833 - 1895). His mother was born in Germany, as was his father. He had nine siblings: Carl Otto (1892 - 1954), Johanna (1894 - 1972), Margaret Louise (1895 - 1952), Dora (1897 - 1898), Gerhard (1898 - 1899), John George (1902 - 1965), Elizabeth Mary (1905 - 1993), Elma Myrtle (1907 - 1976), and Frieda Marie Ziehe (1912 - 1992). On his 1942 World War II draft card, Martin was described as being 5 feet 9 inches tall and as weighing 160 pounds. He had blue eyes, brown hair, and a "ruddy" complexion. Martin Ziehe married Helfrid Carlsen in 1945. They didn't have children.

    Martin Edward (Mik) Ziehe was born September 24, 1900 near Villisca, Iowa, the son of Gerhard and Augusta Donath Ziehe. Mr. Ziehe was a veteran of World War 2. He spent life farming until his retirement. He was married to Helfrid Carlsen in 1945. They had no children. When he was no longer able to care for himself he entered the Good Samaritan Center in Villisca after having spent some time in the home of his sister. Preceding him in death were he is parents; his brothers, Carl, John, and Gerhard; and sisters, Dora, Margaret, and Hannah. He is survived by his wife; three sisters, Elizabeth Briggs, New Market; Elma Briggs, Coring, and Frieda Briggs, New Market and several nieces and nephews. He died Wednesday morning March 24, at the Villisca Good Samaritan Center. The funeral service was held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock, at the Walker Funeral Home in Clarinda, the Rev.
