Mary Alice (LeBourgeois) Cornett was born on March 6, 1893 in Louisiana United States to Josephine (Lalumondier) LeBourgeois and Henricum LeBourgeois, and had siblings Steve Lebourgeois, Peter Lebourgeois, Alfred Lebourgeois, Mary Louise "Louise" (LeBourgeois) Wascom, Marie Sedonia "Sedonia" (LeBourgeois) Vicknair, and Theodule Joseph "Joe" LeBourgeois. She married Nesser Abraham "N. A." Cornett, and had children August Edward Cornett, Joseph A. "Andy" Cornett, Edna Lee (Cornett) Hollier, O'dess (Cornett) Fontenot, Lula Mae (Cornett) Cooper, Millicent Cornett, and Russell Janet "Rusty" (Cornett) Womack. Mary Cornett died at age 77 years old on September 1, 1970 in Opelousas, St. Landry County.

Died 5:40 a.m. Friday, Sept. 4, at Prompt Succor Nursing Home, Opelousas, age 77, she was a native of White Hall, and a long-time resident of Opelousas. Funeral services at 2 p.m. Saturday at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, Opelousas. Burial in Bellevue Memorial Park. A Rosary was recited at 8 p.m. Friday at Lafond & Son Funeral Home. Survivors are two sons, J. A. and Edward Carnett [sic Cornett], both of Baton Rouge; four daughters, Mrs. R. F. Cooper, Pasadena, Tex., Mrs. F. P. Hollier, Baton Rouge, Mr. Warren Fontenot, Beaumont, Tex., and Mrs. Jack Womack, Opelousas; three brothers, J. T., Peter, and Fred LeBourgeois, all of Head of Island; 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. LaFond Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
