  • Introduction

Mary "Gogo" Golden Piercy On September 27, 2021 Mary Golden Piercy, known affectionately as Gogo, went to be with Jesus whom she loved so much and sang one of her favorite songs about, Jesus Loves Me. Born on December 27, 1931 to Norman and Bessie Grant, Gogo spent most of her life in an old yellow home on Main Street in Old Fort. She was known for her lemon-flavored sweet tea, her Sunday afternoon dinners, her home open to everyone, and for calling everyone she met “honey.” She was a member of Grace Community Church, serving faithfully in the preschool. She was preceded in death by her husband Jack Piercy, her brother Guy Grant, Jr and her daughter-in-law Pat Piercy. Left to cherish her memory are her sister Betty Ann Crawford, her brother Joseph (Freddy) Grant, her daughter Libby Piercy, her son Jack (Bunny) Piercy, 6 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and a host of nephews, nieces, former coworkers at Ethan-Allen, and the many young people who ate at her table and enjoyed her simple, sweet accepting company. A worship service to celebrate her life and her Jesus will be held on Sunday, October 3 at Grace Community Church at 3 pm with Pastor Jerry Lewis officiating. The family will receive friends at 2 pm. Burial will follow at Old Fort City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, because Gogo loved kids so much, we think she would love for you to give a gift to Grace Community Church Preschool’s scholarship fund.
